Bringing Hope to Moms in Haiti
With seven trips to Haiti in the last seven months where Moms in Prayer was shared, and two more coming up, we knew God was working powerfully in this country, bringing hope to mothers and transformation in the lives of their children and in their schools. God has great plans for these precious people of Haiti.
From the capital city Port au Prince, to Lagosette and Marmelade in the North, to Hinche in the center of the country, to Ouanminthe on the eastern border, women are learning about the Moms in Prayer ministry and how they can impact their children and schools for Christ through gathering to pray. Although Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, Christians there are a praying people and they truly depend on God for their daily needs.
Both Christy Guenther and Robin Hill shared testimonies of their time in Haiti teaching the women about Moms in Prayer. Christy has been to Port au Prince several times in the past three years working with churches to teach and train women biblically. Observing the women’s faith in this area, she commented, “Even though daily life in Haiti is very challenging, the women find joy in the Lord. They believe in the power of prayer. They are used to praying out loud and they usually have at least one all-night prayer service each week.” So when Christy spoke to the pastor there about Moms in Prayer, he welcomed this training for the women of his congregation. God blessed the two-day conference abundantly by bringing 50 Haitian women who learned about the hope of lifting up their children and schools to God.
Robin Hill was thrilled when God answered her prayer to return to Haiti where she began mission work in 1994. Robin expressed, “After I joined a Moms in Prayer group several years ago, I asked the Lord to one day bring me back to Haiti to share this ministry with the women. I love this group of people like my own family. They are my sweet sisters in Christ and I knew I had to tell them about this life-changing ministry for their precious children.”
Robin traveled throughout the northern region of Haiti to the areas of Lagosette, Cap-Haitien, Galman du Plaa and Lamolere where she trained approximately 80 women in the Four Steps of Prayer. All 25 French Booklets were given to potential leaders and for the first time she was able to give Creole prayer sheets to the women thanks to her Moms in Prayer friend Marie who translated them! In response to the training, one mom said, “This is very important for our children. Thank you for bringing this to us.”
Please pray that:
• God will protect the Christians in Haiti as well as Moms in Prayer leaders traveling there.
• God will prompt mothers to start groups and help us keep in contact with them.
• Haitian mothers will find joy and hope in the Lord as they pray for their children and schools.
• children and schools will be impacted for Christ in Haiti and entire communities will be transformed.
Let me say first that I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith in him is being talked about all over the world. God knows how often I pray for you. Day and night I bring you and your needs in prayer to God, whom I serve with all my heart by spreading the Good News about his Son. One of the things I always pray for is the opportunity, God willing, to come at last to see you.
