From MOPS to Moms in Prayer

My Moms in Prayer story began with a Focus on the Family Broadcast several years ago. At the time, I was involved in a Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) ministry at my church. I listened with great interest to the broadcast and “tucked it away.” I thought to myself, what a great ministry this would be for me when my children “graduated” from MOPS and started school. Ten years later, after my third and last child started kindergarten, I was adjusting to life without little ones at home, when the Lord again brought this ministry to my mind. Through a series of events that only He could orchestrate, I felt the tug on my heart to start praying with a group. At that time no groups were meeting in my area. After a time of prayer and seeking His wisdom, I began the process of starting a group for my children’s school. What a joy and privilege it has been!
I became a part of Moms in Prayer (then Moms In Touch) thinking of the benefit to my children and the peace it would bring to me knowing they and their schools were covered in prayer. As the Lord always does, the blessings of this weekly prayer time have far exceeded my expectations. It has been a time of spiritual growth for me as I prepare lessons each week and apply the Four Steps of Prayer to my personal prayer life.
Every week I am humbled as I share my heart and concerns with another mom who then lifts up my child in prayer. This is beyond description! I have also been incredibly blessed by the friendships and encouragement that I have gained through my involvement in this ministry.
There’s no greater peace than being able to bring our children and our schools before the Lord. And there’s no greater joy than being able to watch Him honor and answer those prayers!
Dear Lord,
We pray for every mother of a preschooler. May she find joy and delight in each daily task before her. May she be guided by Your wisdom. As she looks toward the first day of kindergarten, Lord, please give her a peace, knowing she can lift her concerns to you in a Moms in Prayer group, and that you are faithful to hear and answer every single prayer, be it small or mighty. Lord, provide her with at least one other mom with whom she can pray for their children and school. In Jesus Name, Amen.
