Prison Ministry Facilitator

Prison/Jail Group Type
Moms in Prayer International began ministering in correctional institutions in 1995 at the Oregon State Penitentiary. Since then, we have received a favorable response from prison chaplains, inmates and from the ministry Prison Fellowship. As the Moms in Prayer Prison Ministry Facilitator, Valerie Eaton has been volunteering at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility in Oregon for years. Throughout the U.S., seasoned Moms in Prayer leaders currently facilitate groups, or are starting groups for inmates in 22 states. Currently there are 11 state prison liaisons!
For mothers in prison, this prayer hour becomes a lifeline, a way to positively impact their children’s lives. “Without the help and support of Moms in Prayer, I would not have had hope,” wrote one inmate.
“The Moms in Prayer women unconditionally accepted me. It did not matter my status or history. They opened their hearts to me and provided the hope that I needed to make it through my ordeal.”
Mark Hubbell, Northwest Regional Executive Director of Prison Fellowship says, “The Moms in Prayer International ministry provides a wonderful opportunity to encourage female prisoners to pray for their children, their teachers and others in their children’s lives. They are able to actively intercede for their hurting kids, and to draw strength from the Lord and encouragement from one another as they pray. This is a critical ministry, and an effort that many more women need to join!”
