The beauty of Norway is breathtaking. Home to fjords and thousands of islands, it was only appropriate that the 15th Anniversary of Moms in Prayer was celebrated on a ship! Among the 75 women who attended, most were from Norway but they were also blessed with mothers from other Scandinavian countries, namely Finland, Sweden and Iceland, as well as Switzerland.
Randi Helvig, Country Coordinator, opened the time with a history of Moms in Prayer in Norway and how God has led each step of the way. Randi confirmed in faith that, "It is He who has called mothers to pray and Who has guided us just as He says in Psalm 119:105, 'Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.'"
During the program, several daughters of the Moms in Prayer women came out dressed in beautiful robes to demonstrate how God sees each of us as His child, precious in His eyes. Kathrin Larsen and Christina Buchi from the European team followed this with what happens when mothers pray. They shared their testimonies and those from mothers throughout Europe who have seen God do the miraculous in the lives of their children and in their schools. Kathrin challenged the women to trust God and continue in persistent prayer.
Confession time started with Randi reminding the women that, "As mothers we can guide our kids with inspiration from God if we are willing to live in confession." Then Kathrin spoke to the women about living their lives in the light of God's Word and how important it is to confess our sins during the Moms in Prayer hour. "Every time we hear the Word of God, He speaks powerfully into our lives and opens our eyes to see sin." A time of silence followed when each woman was given the opportunity to write her sins on a piece of paper, take them to the wooden cross in the room and place them in a shredder.
In the afternoon, the sound of Scandinavian mother's fervent prayers were heard as they gathered in groups to pray for their children. Then came a special surprise when a flag was given to the Norway team, created by a Swiss mom named Esther, with the message, "Your will be done in Norway as it is in heaven." The words "We believe" crossed through it. Each color on the flag denoted a special meaning. The gold cotton with stars spoke of the numerous praying mothers. The women were encouraged to believe that God has a vision for Norway that each child and every school will be prayed for. This is possible when looking at the story of Abraham. Because one man believed God, thousands were blessed.
The last day, the Norway team and Kathrin and Christina climbed up what Randi calls her prayer mountain. When they arrived at the top, they worshipped God, confessed their sins of unbelief, thanked Him that He will bring the Moms in Prayer in Norway vision into reality and asked that each child and school will proclaim the name of Jesus. Randi raised the flag and proclaimed Jesus' Name over Norway. May we shout for joy when we hear of your victory and raise a victory banner in the name of our God. May the LORD answer all your prayers. Psalm 20:5 (NLT)
