Each third Sunday in September, churches around the globe participate in Bless Our Schools Sunday, a time for congregations to pray together for students, schools and school staff. In 2011, a Moms in Prayer group leader named Nana shared about this Moms in Prayer event at her church in the Volta region of Ghana, West Africa, and they caught the vision!
At their event, school owners, teachers, staff and students went to the front of the church. The pastor then prayed through the prayer prompts on the Bless Our Schools flyer, and the entire church responded with fervent prayer for the schools. The pastor closed this powerful time of prayer by asking God’s blessing upon the school year, especially for protection from road accidents going to and from school, which had become a major worry in Ghana.
Through Nana’s six years of leading a Moms in Prayer group, she has seen the hand of the Lord move graciously in the schools. Her children have been tremendously blessed ever since she started praying Scriptures over them. To her kids, Moms in Prayer means praying Scripture!
